distinctive call, nightly, along Jones Road, near intersection with Long
Lake Road. Heard as recently as May 23rd. 2 EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES* remain
at Three Oaks, as of May 20th. WORM-EATING WARBLERS were reported May 20th,
during the 18th annual Southwest Michigan Team Birdathon. One report came
from Sarett Nature Center’s “Brown Sanctuary”, and another at
the “Lakeside Road Bridge”, on Lakeside Road north of Forest Lawn
Road. A SUMMER TANAGER was also logged during the event. Unfortunately, no
further information is available.

OTTAWA COUNTY – Previously reported AMERICAN AVOCET present to May
21st, at the dredge ponds near Waverly and Lakeshore Drive in Holland.

AM.

WAYNE COUNTY – A female RED-NECKED PHALAROPE was observed May 20th at
the Dearborn/Allen Park. To my knowledge, it was not relocated.

VAN BUREN COUNTY – May 22nd, a female SUMMER TANAGER was reported in

were seen on May 18th and May 20th. Also on May 20th at Whitefish Point: 1
WILLET and dark-morph SWAINSON’S HAWK.

ANOUNCEMENTS – HELP NEEDED WITH PRAIRIE WARBLER SURVEY

If you see/hear a Prairie Warbler ANYTIME this spring or summer, in ANY part
of the state, please call or email Katie Kahl with the most specific
location description possible. GPS points are best, but an accurate
location description (i.e. distance and direction from the nearest road or
crossroads) works too. Your reports will help in predicting where Prairie
Warblers will choose to breed and assist in the conservation of Michigan
Prairie Warblers.

If you have Prairie Warblers to report or any questions about the study,
please call me at 517-896-7372 or email Katie Kahl at kahlkath@msu.edu.
Your help is extremely appreciated! Thank you.

The next scheduled update of this report will be on Thursday, June 1st,
2006. To report your sightings, please leave a message at the sound of the
tone, or call Jon Wuepper at 269-556-9510. Thank you for calling and good
birding.
