This is the Minnesota Birding Report for Thursday, July 8th, 2010.
In Dakota County, a CATTLE EGRET was found on July 6th by Jim Mattsson
at the Jirik Sod Farm 1/2 mile south of 200th Street along Blaine
Avenue. Three more were seen on the 3rd in Jackson County along state
highway 86 about four miles south of I-90.
A CLARK'S GREBE was reported by Denny Martin at Gorder Lake in Stevens
County on July 3rd.
A family of COMMON MOORHENS was still at King's Lake in McLeod County on
the 6th.
Unusual was the SNOW GOOSE reported on the 4th in White Bear Lake,
Ramsey County. It was seen at Hiner's Pond along Crestline Drive.
And a few southbound shorebirds have turned up in the past few days,
including GREATER YELLOWLEGS, LESSER YELLOWLEGS, LEAST SANDPIPER,
SOLITARY SANDPIPER, and SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER.
