  Dial-a-Bird is a service provided by your Buffalo Museum of  Science 
and the Buffalo Ornithological Society. Press (2) to  leave a message,

  Highlights of reports received August 19 through August 26  from the 
Niagara Frontier Region include BLACK-BELLIED  WHISTLING-DUCK, YEL.-CR. 
NIGHT-HERON and ACADIAN FLYCATCHER.

  The BLACK-BELLIED WHISTLING-DUCK found August 11 in the  Tonawanda 
Wildlife Management Area was reported again August  20, 22 and 23. Park 
at Cayuga Pool on Route 77 in the  Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, 
walk several hundred  yards up the route, checking the marshes to west 
before the  guard rail and concrete culvert. Observers have had mixed  
success finding the duck among the cattails.

  At Dunkirk Harbor, a juvenile YEL.-CR. NIGHT-HERON continues  at the 
west end of the harbor, by the conservation club.  August 23, the heron 
again appeared at sunset.

  August 22 and 23, an ACADIAN FLYCATCHER was heard and seen  at Tifft 
Nature Preserve, on the Buffalo waterfront. Found  along the Nettle 
Trail at the north east end of Lake Kirsty.  Recent warblers at Tifft 
Nature Preserve included TENNESSEE  WARBLER, NORTHERN PARULA, YELLOW 
WARBLER, MAGNOLIA WARBLER,  CAPE MAY WARBLER, BL.-THR. BL. WARBLER, 
YELLOW-R. WARBLER,  BAY-BREASTED WARBLER, BL. AND W. WARBLER, AMERICAN 
REDSTART,  COMMON YELLOWTHROAT and WILSON'S WARBLER, plus numerous RED-
  EYED VIREOS.

  COMMON NIGHTHAWK numbers are picking up slightly. August 21,  six 
over the Village of East Aurora, and on the 20th, 3  COMMON NIGHTHAWKS 
over Woodbridge Avenue in Buffalo.

  Also this week - in the Genesee County Town of Bethany, wild  
blackberry patches are attracting GRAY CATBIRD, NORTHERN  CARDINAL and 
RUBY-T. HUMMINGBIRD. And a white plumage BARN  SWALLOW was noted, but 
not the location.

  Dial-a-Bird will not be updated until Thursday evening,  September 9.
