This is a summary of the Cincinnati, Ohio RBA tape for Monday, November 8,
1999. This tape is sponsored by the Cincinnati Bird Club and compiled by

The Pomarine Jaeger continues at East Fork State Park. First seen on a
Cincinnati Bird Club field trip on October 27, the bird has stayed in the
same general area, being seen through yesterday. It has always been seen in
the area between the south swimming beach and the saddle dam. Three Snow
Buntings were on the beach November 7, and up to 50 American Pipits have
been seen there. Other species seen at East Fork during this period have
included Common Loons, Horned Grebes, Pied-billed Grebes, Ruddy Ducks,
American Coots, Bonaparte's Gulls, Ring-billed Gulls, an Osprey, Peregrine
Falcon, Yellow-rumped Warblers, and Purple Finches.

Eight Red Crossbills were seen at Mitchell Memorial Forest on Sunday,
November 7. They were seen early that morning in the pines near the first
parking lot on the left, but have not been seen since. Several Red-breasted
Nuthatches were also seen in that general area.

A Common Crane has been at Jasper-Pulaski Wildlife Area in northwestern
Indiana, beginning October 30, and continued to be seen through yesterday.

A Short-eared Owl was seen at dusk at Miami-Whitewater Wetlands on October
27, and again on November 3. Two Northern Harriers were also seen on those
dates.

On October 27, 20+ Red-breasted Nuthatches and 5 Pine Siskins were seen at
Spring Grove Cemetery. A late Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 3 Yellow-bellied
Sapsuckers, 6 Brown Creepers, a Hermit Thrush, and 90+ Yellow-rumped
Warblers were also reported.

On November 4, two female Black Scoters were reported from Caesar Creek
State Park, from the end of Harveysburg Road. Horned Grebes, Pied-billed
Grebes, 20+ Common Loons, and Bonaparte's Gulls were also seen. An Osprey
was seen from the beach on November 5.

Extensive mudflats are now exposed at the north end of Brookville Lake.
Birds seen there on November 4 included an adult Bald Eagle, a Baird's
Sandpiper, 325 Killdeers, many Bonaparte's Gulls and Ring-billed Gulls,
Pied-billed Grebes, Green-winged Teal, and Hooded Mergansers.

Summit Lake State Park has waterfowl numbers building up. Birds seen there
over the past week or so included up to 5 Tundra Swans, 3 Surf Scoters, an
Eared Grebe, 30 Lapland Longspurs, many Killdeers, 2 Greater Yellowlegs,
30+ Dunlins, 10 Common Snipes, 3 Pectoral Sandpipers. Common Loons, Horned
Grebes, Pied-billed Grebes, Double-crested Cormorants, 3000+ American
Coots, Ring-billed Gulls, Herring Gulls, Bonaparte's Gulls, Great Blue
Herons, Canada Geese, Mallards, a Mute Swan, Green-winged Teal, American
Black Ducks, American Wigeon, Gadwalls, Northern Pintails, Northern
Shovelers, Ring-necked Ducks, Lesser Scaup, Redheads, a few Canvasbacks,
Buffleheads, many Ruddy Ducks, Red-breasted Mergansers, and a few Common
Goldeneyes.
