This is a Rare Bird Alert for Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) for Sunday,
May 2, 2010, sponsored by the Dayton Audubon Society.

Seen during the April 30th-May 1st  period of the Dayton Audubon
Society Birdathon were the following highlights:

At Spring Valley Wildlife Area on April 30th seen were HAIRY
WOODPECKER, EASTERN KINGBIRD, EASTERN CATBIRD, BALTIMORE and ORCHARD
ORIOLE; YELLOW-THROATED and WARBLING VIREO; SCARLET TANAGER, WOOD
THRUSH, and YELLOW and PROTHONOTARY WARBLER.

Observed on May 1st at Englewood MetroPark were DOUBLE-CRESTED
CORMORANT, CHIMNEY SWIFT, PURPLE MARTIN, a first-of-the-season GREAT
CRESTED FLYCATCHER, WOOD THRUSH, and INDIGO BUNTING; while
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and WILD TURKEY were seen at the north park.
EASTERN MEADOWLARK, EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, first-of-the-season NORTHERN
BOBWHITE and PRAIRIE WARBLER were seen at Germantown MetroPark, and
 ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and a first-of-the-season BOBOLINK were
observed at Huffman Prairie.

Seen at Englewood MetroPark May 2nd were 2 BARRED OWLS and COMMON
YELLOWTHROAT; and first-of-the-season YELLOW CHAT, BLACKBURNIAN
WARBLER, and SUMMER TANAGER; as well as CHESTNUT-SIDED and
BLUE-WINGED WARBLER.
