This is a Rare Bird Alert for Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) for Friday,
May 7, 2010, sponsored by the Dayton Audubon Society.

RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS are being seen widely throughout the area.

BOBOLINK and DICKCISSEL were observed over the last several days in
the alfalfa fields just North of the intersection of Stage and Sears
roads near Waynesville.

On May 7, 44 species were seen at Englewood MetroPark and Aullwood
Audubon Center, including BLACKBURNIAN, NASHVILLE, BLACK-AND-WHITE,
MAGNOLIA, BLUE-WINGED, and BAY-BREASTED WARBLER; LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT, NORTHERN PARULA, YELLOW CHAT, and
first-of-the season TENNESSEE and CAPE MAY WARBLER; as well as
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, and  RED-EYED and WHITE-EYED VIREO.

On May 6th observed at Spring Valley Wildlife Area were
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, SPOTTED SANDPIPER, BALTIMORE and ORCHARD
ORIOLE, GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER and BLACK VULTURE. A
first-of-the-season AMERICAN REDSTART, RED-HEADED WOODPECKER, MARSH
WREN, and NORTHERN CATBIRD were seen as well.

Seen on May 4th at Charleston Falls were BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, 
BLACK-THROATED GREEN and YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, INDIGO BUNTING, and
EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE.
