Wednesday night, January 31. This is the Oklahoma Rare Bird Alert. If you
have a message to leave, wait for the tone at the end of this report.
Please leave your name and telephone number.

Mew Gull, January 30, Oklahoma County
Thayer's Gull, Glaucous Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, January 31,
Oklahoma County
California Gull, January 28, Tulsa County

An adult MEW GULL was seen late Tuesday, January 30, at Prairie Dog Point
on Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. The gull was looked for on Wednesday, the
31, but not found among the several hundred Ring-billed Gulls.

On Wednesday morning, January 31, 1 adult THAYER'S GULL and 2 first-winter
THAYER'S GULL, one first-winter GLAUCOUS GULL, and three adult LESSER
BLACK-BACKED GULLS were seen at Lake Overholser, Oklahoma County. The
gulls were located on the flats near the cofer dam at the north end of the
lake. Mid-afternoon, two adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS and two
first-winter THAYER'S GULLS flew in at Prairie Dog Point at Lake Hefner
also Oklahoma County. These were probably seen earlier in the day at Lake
Overholser. There were good numbers of Ring-billed and Herring Gulls at
both of these locations.

A CALIFORNIA GULL, either third winter or an adult, was on Lake Yahola,
Tulsa County, Sunday, January 28. Another gull, likely a CALIFORNIA GULL,
was present, but distance prevented a positive identification.

This rare bird alert will cease to exist at the end of February 28 due to
the fact that no reports of rare birds are being received. Most reports
are posted to the OKBIRDS LISTSERV. To subscribe to the LISTSERV, send a
message from the e-mail account you intend to use to the following address:
LISTPROC@LISTS.OU.EDU. The message should contain in the body of the text
only the following: SUBSCRIBE OKBIRDS your name. Where "your name" is of
course, your name.

This concludes this report
Thank you for calling and good birding!.
