Mew Gull, January 30, Oklahoma County
Thayer's Gull, Glaucous Gull, Lesser Black-backed Gull, January 31 and
February 2, Oklahoma County
California Gull, January 28, Tulsa County
An adult MEW GULL was seen late Tuesday, January 30, at Prairie Dog Point
on Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. The gull was looked for on Wednesday, the
31, but not found among the several hundred Ring-billed Gulls.
On Wednesday morning, January 31, 1 adult and 2 first-winter THAYER'S GULL
and on Friday, February 2 two adult and two first-winter Thayer's were
observed on Lake Overholser in Oklahoma County. Two first-winter GLAUCOUS
GULL, and one adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were seen the 2nd at
Overholser while on Wednesday the 31 three LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were
at this location.
A CALIFORNIA GULL, either third winter or an adult, was on Lake Yahola,
Tulsa County, Sunday, January 28. Another gull, likely a CALIFORNIA GULL,
was present, but distance prevented a positive identification.
This rare bird alert will cease to exist at the end of February 28 due to
the fact that no reports of rare birds are being received. Most reports
