Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday April 17. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.
On April 13 three MURPHYıS PETRELS, three MOTTLED PETRELS, and eight
PARAKEET AUKLETS were well off the southern Oregon coast. A MAGNIFICENT
FRIGATEBIRD was reported April 12 over the Columbia River near Multnomah
Falls. A BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD was reported from Sauvie Island April 13.
The wintering BLUE JAY in Bend was seen again April 12.
On April 11 a BULLOCKıS ORIOLE was in Florence. It is reported wintering in
the area. A RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was near Toledo April 12. On April 15 three
BLACK PHOEBES were at Brownsmead.
A BREWERıS SPARROW was in Scappoose Bottoms April 12. On April 13 a
LONG-BILLED CURLEW was at the Tualatin NWR. One was at the Briedwell Marsh
near Amity April 10. A EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was at the Tualatin NWR
April 15. On April 10 a flock of 40 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS was at the Mount
Angel Sewage Ponds. The next day a EURASIAN GREEN-WINGED TEAL was at Finley
NWR. During the week a BLACK-HEAD GROSBEAK and a BULLOCKıS ORIOLE were near
Grants Pass.
A flock of 358 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS was at Lower Klamath NWR April 12. On
April 14, 35 MARBLED GODWITS were near Hines.
