This is the Berks County Birding Hotline for Thursday, January 18th.
Highlights include: NORTHERN SHRIKE and TRUMPETER SWANS.
On Saturday the 13th, at Glen Morgan Lake, 1 male REDHEAD, 7 COMMON
MERGANSERS, 270 MALLARDS, 100 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 1 GREAT
BLACK-BACKED GULL and ABOUT 1000 CANADA GEESE were seen. At Lake
Ontelaunee there were 7 CANVASBACKS, 3 RING-NECKED DUCKS and 29 COMMON
MERGANSERS. At Peter's Creek there was an immature RED-SHOULDERED HAWK.
On the 11th at Lake Ontelaunee there was 1 NORTHERN PINTAIL, 1 HOODED
MERGANSER, about 10 COMMON MERGANSER and some GADWALL. At Blue Marsh,
the two adult TRUMPETER SWANS are still being seen south of Bernville,
below the bridge on the road to the ski area. The origin of these birds
is uncertain. They both have leg bands with the number '58' .

me at: kknight@epix.net.) A NORTHERN SHRIKE was seen off of Bright
School Road. Bright School Rd comes off of Rte 183 just north of the
Sheidy boat launch. Park in the lot on the left and walk downhill on
the access road across the street to get to the area where the shrike
was seen. At State Gamelands 110, at Stoney Creek 3 RED-BREASTED
NUTHATCHES, 1 HERMIT THRUSH and 1 BROWN CREEPER were seen.
Wednesday, January 17th at Blue Marsh there were 25 COMMON MERGANSERS
and 1 GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULL.
