Welcome to Pennsylvania Audubon's and the Patriot-News' Birdline. This
Birdline covers sightings made primarily during the week prior to
Thursday, June 11 2009.
ADAMS COUNTY:
There were 3 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS near the intersection of Cunningham
and Shriver Roads on June 7 (RR, MR).
A pair of RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS was seen along Rake Factory Road on
June 8 (TM).
CENTRE COUNTY:
A BALD EAGLE was seen flying away from Colyer Lake on June 4 (MH).
A PINE SISKIN visited a feeder in State College on June 5 (LW).
There was 1 OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and 3 GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLERS at
Scotia Barrens on June 5 (KF, MM). June 6 yielded an ALDER FLYCATCHER
and 2 GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLERS (JV. KF, MM).
An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER and 1 ALDER FLYCATCHER were seen on June 6
along the Moss Hanna Trail in Black Moshannon State Park (JD, SL).
The aptly named Bald Eagle State Park produced 3 juvenile and 1 adult
BALD EAGLES on June 7 (MH).
A BLUE GROSBEAK was located in a barrens area off Yost Ridge Road about
20 miles north of Snow Shoe in Sproul State Forest on June 9 (GG).
CLEARFIELD COUNTY:
A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was singing in a field along Troy Hill Road on
June 6 (JD, SL).
CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
Three RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS were found along the Big Spring on June 6
(VG).
FRANKLIN COUNTY:
An ALDER FLYCATCHER was seen on June 4 trough 8 along Paxton Road (DS,
BK).
A DICKCISSEL was found on June 7 along State Route 416 about 0.2 miles
south of its intersection with Gilan Road (DS).
A late remaining COMMON LOON was seen at Long Pine Reservoir on June 7
(BK).
HUNTINGDON COUNTY:
A PINE SISKIN visited a feeder in Huntingdon Valley on June 8 (CA).
LANCASTER COUNTY:
Conowingo Flats produced 16 immature BALD EAGLES and 5 DUNLINS on June 5
(BS). There were 6 immature BALD EAGLES and 2 BLACK TERNS present on
June 6 (CK, AT). A LEAST TERN and 4 PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS were spotted
on June 7 (BS, DB, AM, EW, TG, BC, CC). There were 2 BLACK-NECKED STILTS
at Avocet Point on June 10 (CC, EW).
PERRY COUNTY:
A COMMON TERN was seen at Little Buffalo State Park on June 6 (RM, CK,
AT).
