Welcome to Pennsylvania Audubon's and the Patriot-News' Birdline. This Birdline
covers sightings made primarily during the week prior to Thursday, January 7,
2010.

ADAMS COUNTY:
A PEREGRINE FALCON was observed on January 1 perched on an hickory tree in the
rear of the home at 4821 Canal Road (PK).

BRADFORD COUNTY:
The ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK continues to be seen through at least January 4 at Scrib
Meadow along Paradise Road near its intersection with Terrytown Mountain Road
(DG, AG).

CAMERON COUNTY:
Two juvenile GOLDEN EAGLES were seen at Sinnnemahoning State Park on January 1
(MJ).

CENTRE COUNTY:
Two BALD EAGLES were seen in Bald Eagle State Park on January 1 (SL). On January
 3 there was 1 BALD EAGLE and 1 AMERICAN PIPIT (NT, DW, PB, BC).

An adult BALD EAGLE was observed flying over the Niessner's yard on January 3
(MN).

Two or 3 AMERICAN PIPITS were found on January 2 along Filmore Road between
Route 550 and Valley View Road (DO, CO).

Two or 3 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen on January 3 along Fox Hill Road at the
University Park airport (DO, CO).

Two adult BALD EAGLES were seen on January 3 along the north side of Route 150
at the intersection with Howard Divide Road (NB).

CLEARFIELD COUNTY:
Birds seen around the greater DuBois area on January 1 included 1 RED-SHOULDERED
 HAWK, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE and 1 HERMIT THRUSH (MW).

CLINTON COUNTY:
A flock of 16 AMERICAN PIPITS were found on January 2 along a road through some
fields located east of McElhatten (DB).

Around 18 AMERICAN PIPITS were seen on January 3 feeding along Kryder Road
between Jacksonville and Route 64 (NB, DBi).

CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
The PRAIRIE FALCON continues to be observed periodically (usually in the
afternoon) through at least January 1 at the intersection of Mud Level and
Duncan Roads (TJ).

DAUPHIN COUNTY:
One SAVANNAH SPARROW visited a feeder in Hershey on January 2 (AS).

JUNIATA COUNTY:
Birding around the county on January 1 yielded 2 adult BALD EAGLES, 1 BARN OWL
and 3 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS (CK, AT, LT).

LANCASTER COUNTY:
One immature and 1 adult BALD EAGLE were seen at Middle Creek Wildlife
Management Area on January 1 (AH).

A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen along the Susquehanna River near Peach Bottom on
January 2 (BS).

A MERLIN was perched on a utility pole in open farm land south of Muddy Run on
January 2 (BS).

A CHIPPING SPARROW visited feeders east of Muddy Run on January 2 (BS).

There was a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE in a flock of CANADA GEESE along
Octoraro Creek on Creek Road in Sadsbury Township on January 3 (HM, RM). It was
also seen on January 4 (CC, RR).

An ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER and 2 PALM WARBLERS were found at the warm water
outlet of the Lancaster Sewer Authority in Washington Boro on January 3 (JH, CC,
 JM).

A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen chasing a ROCK PIGEON at Safe Harbor Dam on January
3 (JH, CC, JM).

LEBANON COUNTY:
The SANDHILL CRANE continues to be seen at Lake Duffy through at least January 2
 (CS, MS, MD). It was not seen on January 4 (RMi).

Two adult BALD EAGLES were observed circling between the frozen Memorial and
Marquette Lakes in Fort Indiantown Gap on January 2 (MC).

LYCOMING COUNTY:
There was an EASTERN PHOEBE in State Game Lands 252 on January 2 (DB).
