Welcome to Pennsylvania Audubon's and the Patriot-News' Birdline. This Birdline
covers sightings made primarily during the week prior to Thursday, February 11,
2010.

ADAMS COUNTY:
A RUSTY BLACKBIRD visited a feeder in Gettysburg on February 10 (JM).

CARBON COUNTY:
Beltzville State Park produced an IMMATURE BALD EAGLE and 3 NORTHERN SAW-WHET
OWLS between February 4 and 7 (DH, MI).

CENTRE COUNTY:
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was found along Williams Road on February 7 (JD).

An adult BALD EAGLE flew over Spearing Street in Howard on February 6 (BSn).

CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
The PRAIRIE FALCON continues to be seen through at least February 9 along Mud
Level Road between the Duncan and Britton Road intersections (MS, RF, PF).
Several LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen in a large flock of 500 HORNED LARKS along
Mud Level Road between February 7 and 9 (VG, BO, RF, PF).

A winter raptor survey run on February 4 in western Cumberland County located 1
BLACK VULTURE, 46 TURKEY VULTURES, 1 SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, 1 COOPER'S HAWK, 1
RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, 79 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 10 AMERICAN KESTRELS along with 1
RED-HEADED WOODPECKER (RF, PF, CH, DG).

A winter raptor survey conducted on February 4 from Newville to Boiling Springs
found 2 BLACK VULTURES, 34 TURKEY VULTURES, 2 COOPER'S HAWKS, 1 RED-SHOULDERED
HAWK, 18 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 1 AMERICAN KESTREL (VG, SD).

A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW visited a feeding station in the Franz's Newville yard
between February 6 and 8 (BF, VG, BO, DGe).

FRANKLIN COUNTY:
An immature NORTHERN GOSHAWK was observed on February 4 flying over the
Chambersburg Food Lion parking lot (TD).

EURASIAN COLLARED DOVES were seen in Shady Grove last week (DGe).

JUNIATA COUNTY:
Three BALD EAGLES were observed near nest sites at unspecified location in the
county on February 5 (CK).

RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS are being seen on a regular basis in Oakland Mills (CK).

A LINCOLN'S SPARROW visited feeders at the Lost Creek Show Shop in Oakland Mills
 on February 10 (AT).

LANCASTER COUNTY:
A MERLIN has been seen this last week in a trailer park near Gap (PFi).

A small flock of EVENING GROSBEAKS flew over a home located just south of the
Pennsylvania Turnpike off of Pinch Road near the Lebanon County border on
February 6 (RM, KM).

There were 4 or 5 LAPLAND LONGSPURS among several large flocks of HORNED LARKS
along S. Groffdale Road on February 7 (DB, JB).

An adult BALD EAGLE was seen along Peters Road on February 7 (DB, JB). 

There was 1 MERLIN at the intersection of Nolt and Hollander Roads on February 7
 (DB, JB).

There were 8 CACKLING GEESE among the over 2000 CANADA GEESE at the Greenfield
Estates Pond on February 9 (JB, DB).

LEBANON COUNTY:
The SANDHILL CRANE has NOT been seen after February 1 at Lake Duffy in State
Game Lands 145 (RM).

MONTOUR COUNTY:
A winter raptor survey conducted on February 3 located 8 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 1
COOPER'S HAWK, 14 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 15 AMERICAN KESTRELS (JB, FG).

YORK COUNTY:
The PEREGRINE FALCON continues to be seen perched on the Judicial Center or
Trinity Church in the city of York through February 1 (AE).

A MERLIN was seen just south of the Pennsylvania border along I-81 on February 4
 (AP).
