Welcome to Pennsylvania Audubon's and the Patriot-News' Birdline. This Birdline
covers sightings made primarily during the week prior to Thursday, August 26,
2010.

ADAMS COUNTY:
State Game Lands 249 produced 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 1 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, 20
LEAST SANDPIPERS and 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS along Gun Club Road on August 21
(PK).

BLAIR/SOMERSET COUNTIES:
Allegheny Front Hawk Watch reported tabulating 12 OSPREY, 4 BALD EAGLES, 3
SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS, 54 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, 8 RED-TAILED HAWKS, 4 AMERICAN
KESTRELS and 2 MERLINS between August 19 and 23 (TD, GF, NF, BSt, JR).

CENTRE COUNTY:
There was 1 LEAST SANDPIPER at Julian Wetlands on August 21 (NB).

There were up to 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 3 LEAST SANDPIPERS and 2 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS at Bald Eagle State Park between August 22 and 25 (GGr, DW, CK, WL,
MH, DR, NB, SB, JV, NT, KE, DGr, TS, DGu, BSn, RC, AL).

Colyer Lake produced 1 MERLIN, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 10 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS
and 7 LEAST SANDPIPERS between August 23 and 25 (JV, AL, MH).

CUMBERLAND COUNTY:
Waggoner's Gap Hawk Watch reported counting 22 OSPREY, 20 BALD EAGLES, 8
NORTHERN HARRIERS, 23 SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS, 5 COOPER'S HAWKS, 5 RED-SHOULDERED
HAWKS, 73 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, 21 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 13 AMERICAN KESTRELS
between August 19 and 24 (DG, RF, CH, GW).

A MOURNING WARBLER was observed on August 23 along Myers Road in State Game
Lands 169 (VG).

DAUPHIN COUNTY:
Eight YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERONS, 4 LESSER YELLOWLEGS and 2 CASPIAN TERNS were
seen in the Susquehanna River from the West Fairview Boat Ramp on August 18
(RK).

A flock of 6 immature WHITE IBISES were photographed circling the southern end
of Wildwood Park on August 23 (SL).

LANCASTER COUNTY:
Conejohela Flats produced up to 1 SORA, 1 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 12 SEMIPALMATED
PLOVERS, 3 GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 35 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 2 SANDERLINGS, 42
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPERS, 128 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 3 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, ` STILT
SANDPIPER, 1 BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and 3 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS between
August 21 and 24 (BS, JB, DB, DC).

A pair of PEREGRINE FALCONS continues to be seen near the Route 462 bridge
through at least August 23 (ML).

A Juvenile BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT HERON and 1 juvenile YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON
continue to be seen together through August 24 at a pond along Umbletown Road
east of Gap (CC).

LEBANON COUNTY:
Second Mountain Hawk Watch reported counting 10 OSPREY, 3 BALD EAGLES, 1
NORTHERN HARRIER, 6 SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS, 2 COOPER'S HAWKS, 22 BROAD-WINGED
HAWKS, 38 RED-TAILED HAWKS and 7 AMERICAN KESTRELS between August 19 and 25 (MC,
 DS, RS, RP).

LUZERNE COUNTY: A PEREGRINE FALCON was observed at Kirby Park on August 22 (SG).
SCHUYKILL/BERKS COUNTIES: Hawk Mountain Hawk Watch reported counting 3 TURKEY
VULTURES, 37 OSPREY, 22 BALD EAGLES, 3 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 22 SHARP-SHINNED
HAWKS, 8 COOPER'S HAWKS, 2 RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, 107 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS, 18
RED-TAILED HAWKS, 27 AMERICAN KESTRELS and 1 MERLIN between August 19 and 24
(LG).

YORK COUNTY:
There was a WILLET at Long Arm Reservoir between August 19 and 23 (DC, MW).

A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen on August 23 perched atop the Judicial Center on
George Street in the city of York (ML).

There was 1 immature YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON, 1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 2 LESSER
 YELLOWLEGS, 1 SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER and 5 LEAST SANDPIPERS at the Conowago
boat launch on Brunner Island on August 25 (LC).
