My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the 
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern 
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County.  Updates are typically done 
every Thursday, more often when necessary.

This is Dave DeReamus, for the Eastern PA Birdline, sponsored by the Lehigh 
Valley Audubon Society, recorded on February 28th at 10:00 PM.

There will be a field trip to Liberty State Park in New Jersey on March 1st. 
Meet at the Tilghman Square parking lot, near the Red Robin restaurant, just 
west of Route 309 at 9:00 AM.  Trip leader will be Mark Boyd.

The next Audubon meeting will be held on March 11th at 7:30 PM at the Pool 
Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus.  Rodney Johnson will do a program on how to 
identify sparrows.

Directions to many of the sites in this report can be found in the area's 
birding guidebook, "Birds of the Lehigh Valley and Vicinity".

Sightings from LAKE MINSI, Northampton County included:
ICELAND GULL - 1 on 2/24 (second-year bird).
Also Lesser Black-backed Gull.

Sightings from ECHO LAKE, Northampton County included:
REDHEADS - 2 on 2/24.

Sightings from LOWER MOUNT BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK - 1 to at least 2/24 (along Gravel Hill Road).

Sightings from the MARTINS CREEK PPL POWER PLANT area, Northampton County 
included:
Peregrine Falcon - 1 to at least 2/24.

Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
Cackling Goose - 1 on 2/27.

Sightings from the BETHLEHEM BOAT CLUB area, Northampton County included:
Eastern Phoebe - 1 on 2/24.

Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County included:
Hooded Merganser.

Sightings from GRAVER'S HILL, Northampton County included:
SNOW BUNTINGS - 2 on 2/24
LAPLAND LONGSPUR - 1 on 2/24.

Sightings from BELTZVILLE STATE PARK, Carbon County included:
RED-NECKED GREBE - 1 from 2/21 to at least 2/23
CANVASBACKS - 5 on 2/23; 3 on 2/27
REDHEADS - 3 on 2/23; 9 on 2/27
WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS - 2 on 2/27
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on 2/23.
Also Horned Grebe, Ruddy Duck, Hooded Merganser, Killdeer, Lesser 
Black-backed Gull, and Bald Eagle.

Sightings from the ALLENTOWN area, Lehigh County included:
At the Allentown wastewater treatment plant:
Killdeer.

Sightings from SMITH LANE, near Alburtis, Lehigh County included:
Snow Geese - ~10,000 on 2/26.

Sightings from the HENNINGSVILLE area, Berks County included:
Fox Sparrow - 1 on 2/23.

Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
Hooded Merganser, hundreds of Common Mergansers, Bald Eagle, Northern 
Harrier, Red-shouldered Hawk, and Fox and Savannah Sparrow.
