My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County. Updates are typically done
every Thursday, more often when necessary.

This is Dave DeReamus, for the Eastern PA Birdline, sponsored by the Lehigh
Valley Audubon Society, recorded on April 18th at 10:00 PM.
There will be a field trip to Sand Island on April 26th. Meet at the Sears
parking lot on Route 191, just south of Route 22 at 5:00 PM. Trip leader
will be Karen Dolan.
There will also be a field trip to the Bethlehem Boat Club area of the
Lehigh Canal on April 27th. Meet at the Park & Ride lot at the William Penn
Highway exit of Route 33, just south of Route 22 at 7:30 AM. I will be
leading this trip.

Sightings from JACOBSBURG STATE PARK, Northampton County included:
American Tree Sparrow - seen on 4/12.
Sightings from the ALBERT ROAD PONDS, Northampton County included:
Snow Geese - 5 on 4/12.
Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
EVENING GROSBEAKS - ~20 on 4/12 ('fly-by's).
Also Merlin, and Fox and American Tree Sparrow.
Sightings from the BETHLEHEM BOAT CLUB area, Northampton County included:
LONG-TAILED DUCKS - 5 on 4/12
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER - 1 on 4/13 to at least 4/16.
Also Blue-gray Gnatcatcher.
Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County included:
Lesser Black-backed Gulls - 44 on 4/11
ICELAND GULL - 1 on 4/18 (first-year bird).
Sightings from the MONOCACY NATURE CENTER, Northampton County included:
Blue-headed Vireo - 1 on 4/12.
Also Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and Yellow-rumped Warbler.
And nearby: Chimney Swift.
Sightings from EAST ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
Snow Geese - 10 on 4/16 (at Seiple's farm pond).
Sightings from ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
Along Spring Hill Road:
Grasshopper Sparrows - 5 on 4/18.
Also Savannah Sparrow.
Sightings from the PALMERTON area, Carbon County included:
TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE - 1 from 4/13 to 4/15 (photographed on private
property).
Blue-headed Vireos - 2 on 4/14
PINE SISKINS - 3 on 4/14.
Also Common Raven, Fox Sparrow, and Rusty Blackbird.
Sightings from BELTZVILLE STATE PARK, Carbon County included:
SURF SCOTER - 1 on 4/12
LONG-TAILED DUCK - 1 on 4/12.
Also Red-breasted Merganser.
Sightings from HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
Great Egret - 1 on 4/13 (along Sensinger Road)
Horned Lark, and Vesper and Savannah Sparrow (along Handwerk Road)
Vesper Sparrow and Rusty Blackbird (along Church Road).
Sightings from the WHITEHALL PARKWAY, Lehigh County included:
Yellow-rumped Warbler.
Sightings from GREEN LANE RESERVOIR, Montgomery County included:
At the Church Road area:
Great Egret - 1 on 4/11
FORSTER'S TERN - 1 on 4/11 (early date)
Also Northern Shoveler and Brown Thrasher.
At the Walt Road area:
Double-crested Cormorants - 71 on 4/11.
Also Bald Eagle.
And, in the nearby Pennsburg area:
Red-breasted Nuthatch and Savannah Sparrow.
Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
Blue-winged Teal, Bald Eagle, Fox Sparrow, and Rusty Blackbird.
Horned and Pied-billed Grebe, Bonaparte's Gull, Broad-winged Hawk, Northern
Rough-winged and Barn Swallow, Brown Thrasher, Pine and Palm Warbler,
Louisiana Waterthrush, Eastern Towhee, and Chipping Sparrow were noted at
several sites this past week.
