My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the 
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern 
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County. Updates are typically done 
every Thursday, more often when necessary.

This is Dave DeReamus, for the Eastern PA Birdline, sponsored by the Lehigh 
Valley Audubon Society, recorded on April 24th at 10:00 PM.

There will be a field trip to Sand Island on April 26th.  Meet at the Sears 
parking lot on Route 191, just south of Route 22 at 5:00 PM.  Trip leader 
will be Karen Dolan.

There will also be a field trip to the Bethlehem Boat Club area of the 
Lehigh Canal on April 27th.  Meet at the Park & Ride lot at the William Penn 
Highway exit of Route 33, just south of Route 22 at 7:30 AM.  I will be 
leading this trip.

Next week's field trip is to Jacobsburg State Park on May 4th.  Details will 
be in next week's update.

WHIP-POOR-WILLS - 2 back on 4/13
Northern Waterthrushes - 2 back on 4/14
Northern Parula - 1 on 4/20.

Sightings from the MARTINS CREEK area, Northampton County included:
Spotted Sandpipers - 2 on 4/20
Bank Swallow - 1 on 4/20
Yellow Warbler - 1 on 4/20.

Sightings from the BETHLEHEM area, Northampton County included:
Eastern Kingbird - 1 on 4/20 (along the Monocacy Creek).

Sightings from MORGAN HILL, Northampton County included:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 1 on 4/19.

Sightings from the BETHLEHEM BOAT CLUB area, Northampton County included:
YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER - 1 continues through this past week.

Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County included:
Green Heron - 1 on 4/19
Spotted Sandpiper - 1 on 4/23
Lesser Black-backed Gulls - 68 on 4/21; 69 on 4/22; 27 on 4/23; 22 on 4/24.

Sightings from the MONOCACY NATURE CENTER, Northampton County included:
White-eyed Vireo - 1 on 4/20.

Sightings from the HANOVERVILLE ROAD RETENTION PONDS, Northampton County 
included:
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER - 1 on 4/21 (late date; in nonbreeding plumage)
Least Sandpipers - 5 on 4/21.

Sightings from the SMITH GAP area, Northampton County included:
Black-and-white Warbler - 1 on 4/20.

Sightings from LITTLE GAP, Northampton County included:
Ruffed Grouse - 1 on 4/20.

Sightings from BAKE OVEN KNOB, Lehigh County included:
Osprey - 23 on 4/19
NORTHERN GOSHAWKS - 3 on 4/19
Broad-winged Hawks - 164 on 4/19.

Sightings from WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird - 1 on 4/19.

Sightings from the JORDAN CREEK PARKWAY, Lehigh County included:
Black-and-white Warbler - 1 on 4/19.

Sightings from the WHITEHALL PARKWAY, Lehigh County included:
Black-throated Green Warbler - 1 on 4/19.

Sightings from the ALLENTOWN area, Lehigh County included:
Great Egret - 1 on 4/22 (at Trout Creek Park).
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on 4/20 (at the wastewater treatment facility).
Also Bald Eagle.

Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERONS - 3 on 4/19
Double-crested Cormorants - ~200 on 4/19
Snow Goose - 1 on 4/17
Common Yellowthroat - 1 on 4/19
Also Bald Eagle, Greater Yellowlegs, Wilson's Snipe, Bonaparte's Gull, 
Lesser Black-backed Gull, White-eyed Vireo, Winter Wren, and Gray Catbird.

Chimney Swift, Northern Rough-winged and Barn Swallow, House Wren, Blue-gray 
Gnatcatcher, Blue-headed Vireo, and Pine, Palm, and Yellow-rumped Warbler 
were noted at several sites this past week.
