My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County. Updates are typically done
every Thursday, more often when necessary.

Valley Audubon Society, recorded on January 9th at 1:00 PM.
The next Audubon meeting will be held on January 12th at 7:00 PM at the
Bethlehem Public Library in Bethlehem. Darryl Speicher will do a program on
Birds and Ecology of the Poconos and northeast PA.

Sightings from BUSHKILL TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
American Pipits - 9 on 1/2 (along Miller Road).
Sightings from the NAZARETH QUARRY, Northampton County included:
Snow Geese - ~18,000 on 1/2.
Also Ring-necked Duck, Ruddy Duck, Pied-billed Grebe, Double-crested
Cormorant, Bald Eagle, Merlin, Hermit Thrush, Field Sparrow, and Common
Grackle.
Sightings from the EASTON area, Northampton County included:
CACKLING GOOSE - 1 on 1/2 (along the Lehigh River).
Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
DICKCISSEL - 1 from 1/7 to at least 1/8 (adult female).
Also Field, Chipping, and Savannah Sparrow.
Sightings from EAST ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on 1/1 and 1/2
ICELAND GULL - 1 on 1/3 (a 'fly-by' first-winter bird)
LAPLAND LONGSPURS - 2 on 1/1 and 1/2
SNOW BUNTINGS - 2 on 1/1 and 1/2; 1 on 1/3.
Sightings from BELTZVILLE STATE PARK, Carbon County included:
Field and Swamp Sparrow.
Sightings from the PENN FOREST RESERVOIR area, Carbon County included:
Common Raven and Red-breasted Nuthatch.
Sightings from HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
SNOW BUNTING - 1 on 1/1 (at Bullhead and Sawmill Roads)
SNOW BUNTINGS - 3 on 1/2 (at Hawk View and Mantz Roads).
Sightings from the FOGELSVILLE QUARRY, Lehigh County included:
Ring-necked Duck.
Sightings from the ALLENTOWN area, Lehigh County included:
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on 1/1.
At Cedar Creek Park (Lake Muhlenberg):
Bald Eagles - 2 to at least 1/2.
Also Lesser Black-backed Gull.
At Dorney Park Pond:
Green-winged Teal and Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Sightings from LOWER MILFORD TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
NORTHERN SHRIKE - 1 from 1/3 to at least 1/7 (along Jane's Lane).
Also Savannah Sparrow.
Sightings from GREEN LANE RESERVOIR, Montgomery County included:
At the Walt Road area:
CACKLING GOOSE - 1 on 1/6.
Also Hooded Merganser and Bald Eagle.
Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
Common Mergansers - 2200 on 1/2
Red-breasted Mergansers - 3 on 12/30 and 1/1
Great Black-backed Gulls - 46 on 1/2
Lesser Black-backed Gulls - 35 on 1/1
Also Wood Duck, Bald Eagle, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Hermit Thrush, and Fox,
Field, Chipping, and Savannah Sparrow.
Sightings from LAKE NOCKAMIXON, Bucks County included:
Lesser Black-backed Gulls - 56 on 1/3
Gray Catbird - 1 on 1/3 (at the fishing pier).
Also Red-shouldered Hawk, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and Hermit Thrush.
Sightings from KRUMSVILLE area, Berks County included:
EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE - 1 to at least 1/1.
To reach the spot where the bird has been seen, take the Krumsville exit off
Route 78 and go north on Route 737. Go straight at the stop sign, make the
first right onto Long Lane, and follow it to Dotterer Road. Check the trees
above the feeders in the yard at the house on the left. PLEASE respect the
homeowner and nearby homes and lawns.
