My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County. Updates are typically done
every Thursday, more often when necessary.

This is Dave DeReamus, for the Eastern PA Birdline, sponsored by the Lehigh
Valley Audubon Society, recorded on January 15th at 2:00 AM.
There will be a field trip to the New Jersey shore on January 30th. Meet at
the Tilghman Square parking lot, near the Red Robin restaurant, just west of
Route 309 at 8:00 AM. Trip leader will be Mark Boyd.
Directions to many of the sites in this report can be found in the area's
birding guidebook, "Birds of the Lehigh Valley and Vicinity".
NOW FOR THE BIRDS!
Sightings include DICKCISSEL, LAPLAND LONGSPUR, SNOW BUNTING, NORTHERN
SHRIKE, EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE, and others.
Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
DICKCISSEL - 1 from 1/7 to at least 1/13 (adult female).
Also Northern Harrier, Merlin, and Chipping and Savannah Sparrow.
Sightings from EAST ALLEN TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
LAPLAND LONGSPURS - 2 back on 1/8; 1 on 1/13
SNOW BUNTINGS - 6 back on 1/8; 2 on 1/13.
Sightings from the PARRYVILLE DAM, Carbon County included:
Hooded Merganser and Bald Eagle.
Sightings from the ALLENTOWN area, Lehigh County included:
At the Dorney Park pond:
CACKLING GOOSE - 1 on 1/12.
Also Lesser Scaup, Bald Eagle, Merlin, Lesser Black-backed Gull, and
Ruby-crowned Kinglet.
And in downtown Allentown:
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on 1/12 (at the PPL Building).
Sightings from SALISBURY TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
Eastern Towhee - 1 to at least 1/8 (at a private feeder).
Sightings from LOWER MILFORD TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
NORTHERN SHRIKE - 1 to at least 1/14 (along Jane's Lane).
Sightings from GREEN LANE RESERVOIR, Montgomery County included:
Gray Catbird - 1 back on 1/3 (along Knight Road)
Eastern Towhee - 1 back on 1/3 to at least 1/7 (at the nature center).
Sightings from KRUMSVILLE area, Berks County included:
EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE - 1 to at least 1/11.
