My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County. Updates are typically done
every Thursday, more often when necessary.

Valley Audubon Society, recorded on March 12th at 4:00 AM.
There will be a field trip to Green Lane Reservoir on March 27th. Meet at
the Tilghman Square parking lot, near the Red Robin restaurant, just west of
Route 309 at 8:30 AM. Trip leader will be Mark Boyd.

Sightings from LAKE MINSI, Northampton County included:
Bonaparte's Gulls - 8 on 3/9
Lesser Black-backed Gulls - 45 on 3/9.
Sightings from the MARTINS CREEK QUARRY, Northampton County included:
GREAT CORMORANT - 1 on 3/7 (seen by scope from atop Three-Church Hill).
Also Bald Eagle.
Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
CLAY COLORED SPARROW - 1 to at least 3/11.
Also Red-shouldered Hawk.
Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County included:
Tundra Swans - 3 on 3/10.
Sightings from the NORTHAMPTON QUARRY, Northampton County included:
Bald Eagle.
Sightings from BELTZVILLE STATE PARK, Carbon County included:
CANVASBACKS - 2 on 3/9
REDHEADS - 2 on 3/10
NORTHERN SHRIKE - 1 from 3/7 to at least 3/9
Ring-necked Pheasant - 1 on 3/9.
Also Bald Eagle, Northern Harrier, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and Fox Sparrow.
Sightings from the LEHIGH GAP NATURE CENTER, Carbon County included:
Peregrine Falcon - 1 on 3/7.
Sightings from the SLATINGTON area, Lehigh County included:
Tree Swallow.
Sightings from the ALLENTOWN area, Lehigh County included:
At the Dorney Park pond: Lesser Black-backed Gull.
Sightings from the HENNINGSVILLE area, Berks County included:
Red-shouldered Hawk.
Sightings from the QUAKERTOWN area, Bucks County included:
Common Raven.
Sightings from GREEN LANE RESERVOIR, Montgomery County included:
At the Church Road area:
Tundra Swans - 5 on 3/11
GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE - 2 on 3/10; 1 on 3/11
CACKLING GOOSE - 1 on 3/11
Osprey - 1 on 3/6.
Also Northern Harrier and Lesser Black-backed Gull.
At the Walt Road area:
Snow Geese - 1090 on 3/7
Common Mergansers - 71 on 3/7.
Also Northern Pintail, Bald Eagle, and Killdeer.
And, in nearby Schwenksville:
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher - 1 on 3/11.
Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
Common Mergansers - 584 back on 3/4; more on 3/6
Lesser Black-backed Gulls - 63 back on 3/2.
Also Bald Eagle, Merlin, Tree Swallow, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Hermit Thrush,
Eastern Meadowlark, and Fox Sparrow.
American Woodcock were displaying in several areas this past week while
Common Grackles and Red-winged Blackbirds infiltrated the region.
