Through 5/25 in Turtle Creek, PINE SISKINS continue (DK).
On 5/25 in downtown Pittsburgh near Heinz Field and PNC Park, 1 RUDDY
TURNSTONE (reported to JS by Sheree Daugherty; also observed by GM). In
Pittsburgh on 5/20, 1 flyover NORTHERN HARRIER (KSJ).
In Plum on 5/25, 2 BROAD-WINGED HAWKS (AH with Pat McShea).
On 5/26 at the Imperial Grasslands, 2 LEAST SANDPIPERS, 1 PURPLE MARTIN,
WILLOW FLYCATCHERS (GM).
Over Squirrel Hill on 5/27, COMMON NIGHTHAWK (KSJ).
On 5/28 in Monroeville, 1 MOURNING WARBLER (MF).
At Knob Hill Park on 5/28, sightings included 1 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO (KD).
On 5/31 along Route 51 in Kennedy Township, BANK SWALLOWS, NORTHERN ROUGH-
WINGED SWALLOWS (MVas).
ARMSTRONG COUNTY:
On 5/26 at Crooked Creek Lake/Dam, 1 possible PROTHONOTARY WARBLER; on
5/27, EASTERN WOOD-PEWEES, BALD EAGLE, COMMON MERGANSERS (MVan).
BEAVER COUNTY:
On 5/29 in Monaca, PEREGRINE FALCONS, BALD EAGLE (SGr).
On 5/30 at the Beaver County Model Airplane Club near New Galilee, 1
MOURNING WARBLER (GM).
In Darlington on 5/30, 4 flyover GREAT EGRETS; at Darlington Lake on 5/30,
1 BANK SWALLOW (GM).
At Big Beaver Wetlands on 5/30, 1 GREAT EGRET (GM).
On 5/30 in Chippewa Township, 1 singing GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, 1 singing
VEERY (GM).
BUTLER COUNTY:
On 5/25 at Squaw Valley Woodlands in Allegheny Township, sightings
included 1 GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER (DWe).
In Center Township through 5/31, 2+ PINE SISKINS (MB).
CRAWFORD COUNTY:
On 5/27 at Miller's Ponds, 1 RED-NECKED PHALAROPE (MW, AB). In Pymatuning
on 5/29, OSPREY, BOBOLINKS, GREAT EGRET (reported to JC by Tom
Wasilewski). On 5/30 at the Pymatuning Goose Management Area, 1 UPLAND
SANDPIPER (MVas). On 5/31 in Pymatuning, OSPREY, EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE,
PURPLE MARTINS, CLIFF SWALLOWS, SAVANNAH SPARROW, 6+ BOBOLINKS, EASTERN
MEADOWLARKS, and others (CHo).
At Wilson's boat launch on 5/29, 1 OSPREY, 2 BALD EAGLES (reported to JC
by Tom Wasilewski).
On 5/31 in Adamsville, 2 immature TUNDRA SWANS (JC).
ERIE COUNTY:
On 5/30 at Presque Isle State Park, highlights included 2 BAIRD'S
SANDPIPERS, 2 DUNLIN, 1 BONAPARTE'S GULL, 8 GREAT BLACK-BACKED GULLS, 37
CASPIAN TERNS (MVas).
FAYETTE COUNTY:
At Greenlick Run Lake on 5/27, 1 COMMON LOON (MF).
On 5/31 in Springfield Township along Kooser Road, 1 singing BLUE
GROSBEAK; also in Springfield Township that day, BOBOLINKS, PURPLE FINCH
(GM).
Along Dinnerbell-Ohiopyle Road on 5/31, GREAT CRESTED FLYCATCHER, KENTUCKY
WARBLER, NORTHERN PARULAS, BOBOLINKS (GM).
In the Ohiopyle State Park area on 5/31, NORTHERN PARULA, BOBOLINKS; on
5/31 along King Road at a small cemetery, 1 WORM-EATING WARBLER (GM).
In Stewart Township on 5/31, 2 PURPLE FINCHES (GM).
JEFFERSON COUNTY:
Near the Clarion River on 5/25, sightings included VEERIES, HERMIT THRUSH,
NORTHERN PARULA, BLACKPOLL WARBLER, CANADA WARBLER (KSJ).
LAWRENCE COUNTY:
On 5/25 in the Plain Grove area, sightings included 1 WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPER, 4 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS, 1 COMMON LOON, 1 BALD EAGLE, 1 OSPREY
(MVas).
At the Three Rivers gravel pond in New Beaver on 5/25, 1 hen RED-BREASTED
MERGANSER and others (MVas); on 5/30 in that area, BANK SWALLOWS (GM).
MERCER COUNTY:
On 5/30 in the Pennsy, Black, & Celery Swamps IBA area, sightings included
10 BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 1 OSPREY, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 1 VIRGINIA RAIL, 2
EASTERN WOOD-PEWEES, 1 WILLOW FLYCATCHER, 2 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 1 SWAMP
SPARROW, 3 BOBOLINKS (DR).
WASHINGTON COUNTY:
At Greencove Wetlands on 5/26, 1 BLACK TERN (LC, MC); on 5/31, GREEN HERON
(CHa).
On 5/27 in North Strabane Township, COMMON NIGHTHAWK (MVas).
On 5/27 at Canonsburg Lake, 1 GREAT EGRET (MVas).
Through 5/27 at the Hahn Road AMD pond, 1 AMERICAN COOT continues (MVas).
WESTMORELAND COUNTY:
At Keystone State Park on 5/25 there and along Route 981, GREEN HERON,
EASTERN KINGBIRD, EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, WARBLING VIREO, KENTUCKY WARBLER,
YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT, GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, SWAMP SPARROW, EASTERN
MEADOWLARK (TV).
