On 1/5 in Pine Township near old Wexford, 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE (reported to
DW by Brian Shema).
In Pittsburgh on 1/8, 1 immature BALD EAGLE, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON (SG). On
1/8 in West Park near the National Aviary, 1 BICKNELL'S/GRAY-CHEEKED
THRUSH (SSar).
On 1/9 in Natrona, 2 HORNED GREBES (AH).
On 1/10 at the Toy Airport, 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK (LM); a
NORTHERN SHRIKE was also seen at the Imperial grasslands area the same
day, along with 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 4 HORNED LARKS, 1 RUBY-CROWNED
KINGLET, and others (SC).
In Etna on 1/10, 1 FOX SPARROW (BC).
On 1/10 near Fourteen Mile Island, 1 BUFFLEHEAD (AH).
From Duck Hollow to New Brighton along the river on 1/10, sightings
included 2 COMMON RAVENS, 1 immature BALD EAGLE (KSJ).
On 1/11 at the Tarentum Bridge, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON (MVan).
ARMSTRONG COUNTY:
At Crooked Creek on 1/11, 1 COMMON RAVEN, 1 FOX SPARROW, 1 adult and 1
immature BALD EAGLE (MVan).
BEAVER COUNTY:
On 1/8 along the Beaver River from New Brighton to Beaver Falls, sightings
included 14 BUFFLEHEADS, 1 GREATER SCAUP, 7 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 1 adult
BALD EAGLE (MVas).
In South Heights on 1/10, 1 adult BALD EAGLE (KSJ).
On 1/10 along Route 168 between Rochester and New Brighton, 1 immature
BALD EAGLE (KSJ). In New Brighton on 1/10, 2 COMMON GOLDENEYES (KSJ).
CLARION COUNTY:
On 1/10 in the Sligo area, ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 3 SHORT-EARED OWLS (CW).
CRAWFORD COUNTY:
In Pymatuning on 1/6, COMMON GOLDENEYES, 1 RED-THROATED LOON, 3 TUNDRA
SWANS, and others (CHo); on 1/7, 1 RED-THROATED LOON, COMMON GOLDENEYES
(SA); on 1/9, the RED-THROATED LOON continues (reported to MVas by Jack
Christman and Al Janus); on 1/11 along the causeway, probable SNOW
BUNTINGS (SK).
ERIE COUNTY:
In Franklin Center through 1/10, 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE (JM).
LAWRENCE COUNTY:
On 1/10 in Plain Grove along Old Ash Road and vicinity, 6 SANDHILL CRANES
(MW, MVas), 1 RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, several GADWALL (MW).
In New Wilmington on 1/10, 1 KILLDEER, 1 WILSON'S SNIPE, 64 SNOW BUNTINGS,
HORNED LARKS (MVas).
MERCER COUNTY:
Near Sharon on 1/11, 1 adult BALD EAGLE (SSan).
WASHINGTON COUNTY:
From last week: On 1/2 in Houston, 2 PURPLE FINCHES (CHa). On 1/3 at the
Greencove Wetlands, 2 EASTERN TOWHEES (MC).
At Meadowcroft Museum on 1/5, 3 flyover COMMON RAVENS; on 1/9, 3 COMMON
RAVENS, 1 HERMIT THRUSH, and others (JB).
On 1/10 in the Donaldson Road Area/Beagle Club Road, sightings included 2
NORTHERN HARRIERS (SC).
WESTMORELAND COUNTY:
On 1/6 at Derry Lake, 30 possible TUNDRA SWANS, 2 REDHEADS (DK); on 1/9, 3
TUNDRA SWANS, 10 REDHEADS, 1 CANVASBACK, 1 BUFFLEHEAD, AMERICAN BLACK DUCK
(SG).
On 1/9 at Lock #4 on the Allegheny River viewing from the Braeburn side, 3
COMMON GOLDENEYES (SG).
