ALLEGHENY COUNTY:
On 1/19 at Boyce-Mayview Park, sightings included RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH
(SC).
In Pittsburgh on 1/21, pair of PEREGRINE FALCONS (KSJ).
Near Twelve Mile Island in Plum on 1/23, 2 hen COMMON GOLDENEYES (AH).
ARMSTRONG COUNTY:
At Crooked Creek Lake on 1/21, sightings included BALD EAGLE, COMMON RAVEN
(MVan).
On 1/21 near Leechburg, 2 BALD EAGLES (MVan).
CLARION COUNTY:
Near Shannondale on 1/18, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK (CW).
On 1/21 near Mt. Airy, small flock of RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES (CW).
CRAWFORD COUNTY:
In Pymatuning on 1/23, a total of 15 BALD EAGLES were seen (JC); on 1/26,
sightings included 15 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 2 SNOW BUNTINGS, 1 adult BALD
EAGLE (CN).
On 1/26 on a farm east of Springboro, 1 SNOWY OWL (reported to JM by
Andrew Troyer, and reported to CN and confirmed by CN).
ERIE COUNTY:
In Union City on 1/18, COMMON RAVEN (JM).
Near Wattsburg on 1/21, COMMON RAVEN (JM).
On 1/21 at the Lake View landfill, 4 GLAUCOUS GULLS, 1 LESSER BLACK-BACKED
GULL (JM).
At Presque Isle State Park on 1/20, 1 WHITE-WINGED SCOTER; on 1/23, 12
CANVASBACKS, 6 REDHEADS, 10 GADWALL, 20 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 20
BUFFLEHEADS, 100 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 100 RING-NECKED DUCKS (SS).
FAYETTE COUNTY:
On 1/23 along the Cheat River, 1 TUNDRA SWAN (TB).
INDIANA COUNTY:
Along the Winter Raptor Survey route on 1/23, sightings included 1
NORTHERN HARRIER, 1 COMMON RAVEN, ~50 HORNED LARKS (MH with Roger Higbee
and Dennis Lauffer).
Near Blairsville and in Clarksburg on 1/23, COMMON RAVEN (MC and Dan
Cunkelman).
LAWRENCE COUNTY:
Along Bonanni Road on 1/20, 33 SANDHILL CRANES (JS).
On 1/20 in the New Wilmington area, 1 MERLIN, 2 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS, 50
HORNED LARKS, and others (RN with Melissa Little); on 1/21, RED-HEADED
WOODPECKER, 26 HORNED LARKS (JB); on 1/23, 2 RED-HEADED WOODPECKERS, 1
NORTHERN HARRIER (MVas).
In Plain Grove on 1/23, sightings included 39 SANDHILL CRANES, 6 GADWALL
(MVas).
WASHINGTON COUNTY:
On 1/23 at Washington Cemetery, 1 MERLIN, 1 hen NORTHERN PINTAIL (LC); on
1/24, 1 hen NORTHERN PINTAIL (JB).
At the Greencove Wetlands on the evening of 1/24, 1 possible VIRGINIA RAIL
(JB).
On 1/26 at the Hahn Road AMD pond, 1 RUDDY DUCK (MVas).
WESTMORELAND COUNTY:
During the Winter Raptor Survey on 1/21, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 2 ROUGH-
LEGGED HAWKS, and others; on 1/23, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 2 immature BALD
EAGLES (LH).
