Todd Jensen reported on the recent SD Ornithologists' Union meeting near
Hot Springs.  Highlights included sighting of 117 species, including an
indigo-lazuli bunting hybrid, sage thrashers and Brewer's sparrows at Buffalo
Gap National Grassland, Virginia's warblers in Roby Canyon, and Cassin's
kingbird, pinyon jay and Clark's nutcracker 20 miles southwest of Custer.
Also in the Hot Springs area, Kathy Anderson reported 2 lesser goldfinches
at her bird feeder on May 30.

In eastern South Dakota, John Evans observed a black-necked stilt at
Banker's Point near Waubay National Wildlife Refuge (Day County).  The
sighting was on the east side of Waubay Lake north of Hedke Pass.

The Game, Fish and Parks Department recently released a new information
product on birding, called "The Fledgling Birder."  If you would like a copy of this
