This is the Sunday, May 23rd, update of Big Country birding news,
sponsored by the Big Country Audubon Society.

Sightings from Lake Colorado City State Park (Mitchell Co) on Saturday
the 22nd include SAY'S PHOEBE (Sayornis saya), VERMILION FLYCATCHER
(Pyrocephalus rubinus), CASSIN'S SPARROW (Aimophila cassinii) and
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW (Ammodramus savannarum).

Sightings from Diamond Lake in north Abilene on Tuesday the 18th include
4 NASHVILLE WARBLERS (Vermivora ruficapilla), 3 YELLOW WARBLERS
(Dendroica petechia), a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER (Dendroica virens),
a WARBLING VIREO (Vireo gilvus), a LEAST FLYCATCHER (Empidonax minimus)
and a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW (Spizella pallida).

At Kirby Lake on the 13th, there were over 50 BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS
(Calidris bairdii) and 20 STILT SANDPIPERS (Calidris himantopus) on the
west shore.  BELL'S VIREOS (Vireo bellii) continue to be heard in the
Mesquites on the east side of the lake.
