This is the Monday, July 19th, update of Abilene area
birding, sponsored by the Big Country Audubon Society.
CAVE SWALLOWS were seen on Saturday's trip to the Stasney
Ranch near Albany in Shackelford County. Other species seen
included PAINTED BUNTING (numerous), VERDIN and ASH-THROATED
FLYCATCHER.
Recent sightings from the Waste Water Treatment Plant near
Hamby (Jones Co) include: RED HEAD, SNOWY PLOVER; BLACK-
NECKED STILT (nesting) and GREATER and LESSER YELLOWLEGS.
GREAT EGRETS and SNOWY EGRETS are still being seen at Kirby
Lake as well as good numbers of WESTERN SANDPIPERS.
