This is the Austin area Rare Bird Alert for June 25, 2005. A 60-mile radius
circle centered in Austin defines the reporting area. The Austin area RBA is
a service of the Travis Audubon Society.

On the 24th: Scott Young reported a Common Moorhen at the Kizer Golf
course in Austin. Other notable sightings made by Scott at Kizer include
Least Grebe (6/13) and LEAST TERN (6/7).
On the 10th: Dan Peak reported a Bronze Cowbird along Rt.150 in Hays Co.
On the 8th: Bill Reiner saw a Green Kingfisher along the Barton Creek greenbelt
in Austin.
On the 2nd: Robert Norris reported a GREEN VIOLET-EAR HUMMINGBIRD in Comal
City in Comal Co. The bird was seen by several other observers for the next
2 days.
On the 2nd: Susan Schaezler saw a BUFF-BELLIED HUMMINGBIRD on her property
on the Comal-Guadalupe Co. line. Photos at

On the 1st: Randy Pinkston saw a BROWN PELICAN at Temple Lake Park on Belton
Lake in Bell Co.
On May 31st: Gary Waggerman saw an adult male LAZULI BUNTING on Cow Creek
Road on the Travis-Williamson Co. line.
On the 28th: Rich Kostecke reported a COUCH’S KINGBIRD at Union Grove WMA on
Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir in Bell Co.
On the 11th: Stephen Lorenz reported at TROPICAL PARULA pair at Hamilton
Pool in Travis Co. This unusual sighting (last seen in 1983) was confirmed
by Richard Kaskan 11 days later.
On the 11th: Sally Breed spotted 3 FULVOUS WHISTLING DUCKS at Hornsby Bend
in Travis Co.
