Howdy, welcome to the Thursday April 19, 2001 update of the Coastal Bend
Rare Bird Alert sponsored by the Audubon Outdoor Club of Corpus Christi.

Tuesday's cold front coupled with rain and sustained north winds produced a
nice grounding of migrants. Various migrant traps such as Blucher Park,
Rosehill Cemetery, Packery Channel and Paradise Pond in Port Aransas there
were many of the usual suspects.

Some of the better birds reported were Tennessee Warbler (Vermivora
peregrina), Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea), Blue-winged Warbler
(Vermivora pinus), Kentucky Warbler (Oporornis formosus), a single
Yellow-rumped Warbler (Dendroica coronata), Bay-breasted Warbler (Dendroica
castanea), Blackpoll Warbler (Dendroica striata), Blackburnian Warbler
(Dendroica fusca), Northern Waterthrush (Seiurus noveboracensis), Louisiana
Waterthrush (Seiurus motacilla), Red-eyed Vireo (Vireo olivaceus), Warbling
Vireo (Vireo gilvus), Philadelphia Vireo (Vireo philadelphicus), and
Black-billed Cuckoo (Coccyzus erythropthalmus) and Yellow-billed Cuckoo
(Coccyzus americanus).

Yesterday, the eighteenth, Jimmy Jackson had the good fortune female
Black-throated Gray Warbler (Dendroica nigrescens) at the Connie Hagar
Sanctuary in Rockport.

Jim Cameron in Port Aransas reported twelve Fulvous
Whistling-Ducks(Dendrocygna bicolor) at the boardwalk of the Port Aransas
Birding Center.

A Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus) is still lingering on top of the blue
water tower south of Port Aransas proper.

Thanks for calling the Coastal Bend Rare Birds Alert. To leave a message
begin speaking after the tone. Be sure to leave your name and telephone
number. Good Day and Good Birding.
