Howdy, welcome to the Monday morning april 23, 2001 update of the Coastal
Bend Rare Bird Alert sponsored by the Audubon Outdoor Club of Corpus Christi.
The Yellow-billed Loon* (Gavia adamsii) continues off of South Padre
Island. The best way to see this bird is t contact Colley's Fin-to-Feathers
Tours at 956-739-BIRD.
The Tamaulipas Crows* (Corvus imparatus) also continue at the Brownsville
weather station. The birds are being seen at the very base of the top of
the tower that leads to the Doppler radar ball. You can find the station
along Vermilion Street, which intersects with Boca Chica, Route 4 out of
Brownsville. This is on the west side of the Brownsville Airport.
Tropical Kingbirds (Tyrannus melancholicus) are being seen again in
Brownsville at Saint Joseph's Academy on the south side of the school.
Saint Joseph's Academy is found on Palm Blvd.
Northern Beardless-Tyrannulet (Camptostoma imberbe) at Bentsen State Park
near the north restroom near trailer site #1. Also at Bentsen State Park in
that same general area, but just outside the trailer loop itself, a
Clay-colored Robin (Turdus grayi) was heard singing early yesterday
morning. Hook-billed Kites (Chondrohierax uncinatus) are also being seen
around that same area between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., again around the
north restroom.
A Gray Hawk (Asturina nitidus) is present in the main body of the park at
Anzulduas County Park.
Thanks for calling the Coastal Bend Rare Birds Alert. To leave a message
