Interesting birds seen this week include:
3 Glossy Ibis and 5 White-faced Ibis at Calaveras Lake on Sunday, Nov 19.
They were located along the shoreline to the left of the entrance.
Also Osprey, Black-crowned Night Herons, Grasshopper, Swamp and
White-crowned Sparrow. Marsh Wrens were active. 1 Laughing Gull was
seen. 1 American Bittern.

4 Crows were reported near NW Loop 410 and Vance Jackson and Honeysuckle
LN on Thursday, Nov 16. Pretty far north for a Crow. They have been
working their way up the Olmos Creek and have been seen regularly in
Olmos Basin .

On Mission Trail along San Antonio River between Espada Dam and Mission
San Juan on Sunday, Nov 19, one Green Heron, 2 Osprey, 20 Black
Vultures, 2 Greater Yellowlegs, American Pipits, Lincoln’s and Song
Sparrows, and a flock of Western Meadowlarks were seen. Also
Yellow-rumped Warblers, Orange-crowned Warblesr, 2 Nashvilles, 1
Vermilion Flycatcher, among others.

On Wed. Nov 15 at the Mitchell Lake, 60 Bufflehead, 1 Vermilion
Flycatcher, Couch’s Kingbird, 5 Clay-colored Sparrows.

Juncos are being reported. Some at Avenue A and some also at South Side
Lions Park where there were also Song, Lincoln’s and Chipping sparrows
and a Golden-crowned Kinglet on the 15th.
Earlier Golden-crowned Kinglets were seen at O P Schnabel Park on
Bandera Rd along with Hermit Thrush, Spotted Towhee, and Roadrunner.

Raven was seen on Loop 410 at Nacogdoches on 14th. This is usually a N W
Bexar County bird.
Lesser Nighthawk was seen over Fairchild Center on East Crockett St in
late afternoon of 17th and one at Mitchell Lake on 16th that was so cold
it didn’t move off the ground.
Woodlawn Lake had 10 White Pelicans on Friday, Nov 17, in spite of work
being done on the Lake.
On Monday the 13th 12 Caracaras were reported at Mitchell Lake.
2 Unidentified Orioles were seen in Leon Valley on 13th.
Nov. 13 is the last Scissor-tailed Flycatcher reported from South Bexar
County.
50 Hooded Mergansers were reported from Mitchell Lake on the 11th.
